The Holition Tissot augmented reality project makes it to Toronto

Tissot, a Swiss watchmaker, recently used augmented reality (AR) technology with an outdoor digital window display at The Bay in downtown Toronto to advertise its wares in time for Father’s Day.
During the 10-day promotion, staff members engaged the public at the intersection of Yonge and Queen Streets, encouraging interaction with two touch-screen windows (see video below). They handed out special blank wristbands which, when reflected back in the 1-m (42-in.) digital signs, were transformed into watches, allowing passersby to ‘virtually’ try on Tissot’s various designs.
“The software is like an online catalogue, letting people select and try on different models,” explained Jeremy Kahnert, the watchmaker’s local marketing manager. “Then, inside the Bay, all of these watches are on display and for sale. There are also more touch screens inside where customers can enter a contest.”
The software was developed by Holition in London, England, and integrated locally by Endo Networks, a marketing firm based in Oakville, Ont. While Tissot has used the interactive digital signage technology before in Europe, this marked its first deployment anywhere in North America.
